Car Insurance Volkswagen (Car Insurance). hydrogen powered boat idea for business class project?

hydrogen powered boat idea for business class project? i have to do a project where we create an idea for a product thats not been done. how about a hydrogen powered boat motor that sucks water from the lake, maybe filteres it, then runs off that? the engine would seperate the hydrogen and oxygen in its fuel tank somehow. can this be done? can the whole process be as simple as that? thanks

Where are you going to get the Hydrogen fuel? It's not in the lake water. Many Metro Transit systems have been experimenting with Hydrogen powered buses and vehicles. So far everyone of them have found it way more costly to operate and isn't likely to take off. However, there are some high pollution cities that may continue to use them to fall in-line with Smog (Ozone) pollution restrictions, namely LA, Fresno, SF Bay Area, CA and some mid-west districts. Using current methods, It requires more energy to separate hydrogen and oxygen from water than than the hydrogen can produce, so it simply isn't practical. If you can come up with an efficient method of separation, You will rule the world. Just a note to others, there is actually lots of hydrogen in water, 66.6%, to be precise. The quantity of hydrogen is not at issue, just the method of separation. Forget about it, it can't be done. getting power from water is a perpetual motion machine idea, forget it. But running a boat on a hydrogen fuel cell, that's not so daft. Maybe you use it for waterskiing on reservoirs where they only allow electric boats because of the pollution from gas/diesel You'd need a source of hydrogen, maybe crack it yourself from mains electricity on land then keep it in a cylinder like a fuel-cell bus.

Selling my Classic Car? I have a classic car I need to sell. it is appraised at 13G and the car is running with new re-built transmission, tuned up engine and brand new brakes all around. I would be happy if I get 10G for it but there are a lot of lowballers and tire kickers out there trying to get something for pratically nothing so I want to know what would be the lowest you would go if you were selling my car. Some snot nose kid (must have been no more then 18 years old) came by, took a look at it. Told me he loved it but only wanted to pay 2500 for it. He was trying to argue that the colour was wrong, the interior was not the colour he wanted and that he would have to get the rust fixed (only 1 spot the size of a thumbnail) and said he would have to pay big bucks to get it all right.... Volkswagen . Car slowing down while DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY!!!!?!!?

Car slowing down while DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY!!!!?!!? ***I drive a 2005 CHEVY COBALT*** I was driving on the freeway about 60 mph, I had half tank of gas but out of nowhere my car started to slow down and I felt the wheel stiffing up, as in I could barely turn the wheel it was very stiff. I had to exit asap but my car was going very very SLOW. I kept pushing the gas pedal but it still didn't speed up. While all of this was happening, the gas needle went all the way down as if it had no gas!!! Then it finally stalled but it was still on, I turned the engine off and tried turning it on again, on the second try it totally turned on fine but the gas meter still read EMPTY. So I quickly drove to the first gas station and pumped about $10. I turned the car back on and now it had a little more than half a tank!!!!! I don't get it, what could be wrong with my car??? Is it just that the gas meter doesn't work or is it something else? car insurance.

Volkswagen . How to Figure Out the Gear Ratio on an F-150

The Ford F-150 was introduced in 1975. One of the best-selling vehicles of all time, there are more F-150 trucks on the road than any other brand. Over the years, the F-150 came with an assortment of rear ends and gear ratios depending on engine size and options. Knowing the gear ratio of your F-150 is important if you have to replace the ring and pinion gears due to breakage, or if you want to change gear ratios.
Difficulty:Easy
Instructions Things You'll Need
Jack (optional)
Jack stands (optional)
Paper
Pencil

Step by Step :
1
Locate the "Vehicle Certification Plate" on the inside of the driver's door near the door latch. The axle code is printed under "Axle" or "Ax." You can use the chart provided in the first resource below to cross reference the axle code. You can verify the gear ratio using the next two steps.
2
Locate the axle tag on the rear axle. It is a small metal tag attached to one of the differential cover bolts. The differential cover is the metal cover on the back center of the rear axle. It is held on with a circular pattern of bolts. Older F-150s do not have a cover; they have a differential carrier. Either way, there is still a circular pattern of bolts.
3
Write down the number in the lower left-hand corner of the tag. It will look like "3.23" or "3.50." This is the gear ratio. If there is an "L" in the number, for instance "3L23," it is a limited slip differential.
Tips & Warnings
Limited-slip differentials provide power to both tires. If one tire starts to spin, power is transferred to the other one. Non-limited-slip, or "open" differentials, provide power to one tire only. If it starts to spin, the other tire will remain stationary. Lower (numerically higher) gears are better for pulling and acceleration. Higher (numerically lower) gears are better for highway driving.

Volkswagen . How to Calculate Rear Gear Ratio

Rear-end gear ratio is important because it affects your car's acceleration. It also affects fuel economy. Generally speaking, to make a car accelerate faster you use a "lower" (numerically higher) gear ratio. To lower your engines cruising speed on the highway and thus improve your fuel economy, you would want a "higher" (numerically lower) gear ratio. You may have a situation where the gear ratio of a rear end is unknown and there is no identification tag on the rear end, or your car does not have the original axle. In that case, you need to manually calculate the gear ratio.
Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need

Wheel chocks
Jack
Jack stands
Drain pan
Ratchet
Socket set
White-out (or white chalk)
Paper
Pencil
CalculatorCalculate the approximate gear ratio (The easy way)

Step by Step :
1
Park the vehicle on level ground. Place wheel chocks in front of the front tires.
2
Place the jack under the middle of the rear axle differential housing. Raise the vehicle and support it by placing a jack stand under each axle tube.
3
Mark a thin horizontal line on the pinion yoke and a matching line on the rear axle housing. The pinion yoke is the part that the u-joint connects to. Mark a line on one of the rear tires pointing straight down.
4
Watch the mark on the driveshaft while you have another person rotate the rear tire. Have the other person count how many times the tire turns in one complete turn of the drive shaft. The rear tire will turn more than two turns. This will only give you an approximate gear ratio.
Calculate the exact gear ratio (The hard way)

Step by Step :
1
Expose the differential. If your rear end has a rear cover you only have to remove the cover. If not, you must remove the tires, axles, and driveshaft. Unbolt the differential housing from the rear-end housing and pull it out. You will need to put a drain pan under the rear end to catch the gear oil.
2
Place a mark on the ring gear and the pinion gear with white-out or chalk. The ring gear is the large round gear that sits vertically in the differential housing. The pinion is the small gear connecting to the driveshaft.
3
Rotate the the gears by turning the driveshaft or the pinion gear. Count the teeth on each gear. Divide the number of teeth on the ring gear by the number of teeth on the pinion gear. This will give you the exact gear ratio. For instance, a ring gear with 39 teeth and a pinion gear with ten teeth will give you a 3.90 gear ratio (39 divided by 10 equals 3.90).
Tips & Warnings
Even "exact" gear ratios are rounded off to two digits after the decimal point. For instance, "3.08", a common gear ratio, comes in two gear sets, 40/13 = 3.07692, and 37/12 = 3.08333.

Figure 19-7: Turning Focal point radius. .Chapter 19: Checking Your Tires, Alignment, and Steering Checking your steering Checking your steering is easy. Just stand outside your vehicle, near the door on the driver's side. Stick your hand through the open window and move the steering wheel, with your eye on the left front tire. If you can move the steering wheel at all before the tire starts to move, then you need to have both your steering and alignment checked. There should be no "play" in the steering wheel before the signal is transmitted to the tires. As you drive your car, be alert to signs that it isn't handling as easily as before. If the vehicle seems to have a mind of its own and begins to resist you on turns (and pulling out of turns), take a good look at your tires for signs of wear caused by misalignment. Checking your tires for tiear You should check your tires for wear at least once a month and before and after long trips. To determine whether you need to (a) buy new tires, (b) have your wheels balanced, (c) have your wheels aligned, or (d) change your driving habits, simply read your tire treads for clues. To determine what's causing problems with your tires, try the following: Look for things embedded in each tire. Do you see nails, stones, or other debris embedded in the treads? Remove them. But if you're going to remove a nail, first make sure that your spare tire is inflated and in usable shape. If you hear a hissing sound when you pull a nail, push the nail back in quickly and take the tire to be fixed. If you aren't sure whether air is escaping, put some soapy water on the hole and look for the bubbles made by escaping air. If you're still not sure whether the nail may have caused a leak, check your air pressure and then check it again the next day to see whether it's lower (for help, see "Checking your air pressure," earlier in this chapter). Tires with leaks should be patched by a professional. If the leak persists, get a new tire. Figure 19-9: It's time for new tires when tread-wear indicators appear. .Chapter 19: Checking Your Tires, Alignment, and Steering A / 7 Look at the sidewalls. Check for deeply scuffed or worn areas, bulges or bubbles, small slits, or holes. Do the tires fit evenly and snugly around the wheel rims? Look at the treads. Most tires have tread-wear indicators built into them (see Figure 19-9). These bars of hard rubber are normally invisible but appear across treads that have been worn down to Xe of an inch of the surface of the tire (the legal limit in most states). If these indicators appear in two or three different places, less than 120 degrees apart on the circumference of the tire, replace the tire. If your tires don't show these indicators and you think that they may be worn below legal tolerances, place a Lincoln penny head-down in the groove between the treads. If you can see the top of Lincoln's head, your tire probably heeds to be replaced. To measure tread wear more exactly, place a thin ruler into the tread and measure the distance from the base of the tread to the surface. It should be more than Yw inch deep. (Note: If your front tires are more worn than your rear ones and show abnormal wear patterns, you probably need to have your wheels aligned.)
